![]() On my old machine, after a reboot, I was able to see iMovie in my purchase history and then I could download the most recent compantible version for Catalina which is iMovie 10.2. okay when i try to launch imovie, it says 'The version of iMovie installed on this Mac is not compatible with macOS Catalina. Then open up App Store again, where I can now GET imovie. So from I uninstalled or deleted the application by: I couldn’t do this, as the newer machine already had iMovie. Don’t worry, this seemed to have no side effects. Sign out of the App Store on the new machine, and sign in with my icloud account. The steps which worked for me were to: Use another newer Machine NOTE - I found that the older hardware was frustrating whilst editing so I recommend getting newer hardware! Catalina is the most recent OS I can put on there (10.15.7) iMovie installed on this Mac is not compatible with macOS Catalina. This must be done from the Purchased tab, and not anywhere else on the Mac App Store, or the dialog will not appear. In the Open Library window, click New to create a new. If you attempt to install iMovie from the Purchased tab of the Mac App Store, you will be given the option to install the last compatible version. ![]() While you press and hold the Option key, click the iMovie app in the Dock or double-click the iMovie app in the Applications folder. First, create a new library: Quit iMovie. If you’ve an older Mac Book like me (Early 2013), which has 8GB of RAM and a 250GB SSD then it is hard to get iMovie on it from a fresh install of the OS. You can create a new library and test project to check if the issue is with your library, project, or iMovie app. ![]()
